We went in to our normal doctor's appointment wondering what Angie's blood pressure would be like this week. Considering two weeks had passed and the baby hadn't shown any new signs of coming, we figured our stubborn child was never going to come. The doctor gave Angie the bad news that she indeed had made no more progress toward labor; and to top it off her blood pressure was even higher than the week before and wasn't dropping while she rested. So he sent us over to the hospital to get some blood work done and to wait for an hour while they took her blood pressure every 10 minutes.
After 3 hours of taking pressure, we discovered that our doctor was at a family function and the backup doctor wasn't being extremely helpful in getting us out of there in a timely fashion. Finally they decided to have her amniotic fluid measured by ultrasound; we went and did that, and by the time we got back to the labor and delivery department the backup doctor had made the decision that Angie should just stay and deliver. So they gave her the drafty gown, stuck an I.V. in her hand, and we were told that our doctor would be right in to induce her into labor.
3 hours more passed, and they finally had come to induce her. Interestingly enough, by the time they showed up, Angie actually started showing signs of going into labor by herself. So they decided to use a less drastic induction medication rather than pitocin (which can make contractions extremely intense). So now we have science to force that baby out! She wanted to stay in her cozy pouch forever, but we are using a crowbar on the door and revoking her umbilical privileges.
Angie got her wish, she can sit all comfortable-like and watch the Olympics to take her mind off the pain. We just watched Michael Phelps cream the competition. That man must be half fish or something, there isn't a record he can't break or a gold medal he can't win.

Congrats on getting Lexi here! She is 2 1/2 hours old, where's the pictures of her? I am sure she is beautiful.
Might I add that she knew the best day of the year to be born and just had to wait.
