Lexie's New Trick

Bryan:

So Angie called me at work today. She was really excited. Lexie kinda freaked her out because at only 6 weeks old, she can now flip herself over. This is good, but at the same time not-so-good considering we can't take our eyes off her for a second anymore (not that we would want to anyway, she is so cute). The scary thing is that I can imagine her walking around not too far from now and I am a bit scared of having such a young baby with mobility. The video above proves it, take a look; we can re-create the incident of the little-stinker doing it.

6 Weeks Old!

Lexie is now 6 weeks old! She is growing and starting to get chubby and getting more smiley and expressive every day. We are so happy to have her...she's such a good baby! Here are some pictures I took of her today.

This is Lexie in her swing. This is my life saver and about the only way I get anything done during the day.

3 Long Hours

Today was the first week we made it through all 3 hours of church. I know there are a lot of people who think our 3 hour block of meetings each week is long. I never thought it was too bad before and it wasn't too bad today either, but in some ways it did seem longer. I discovered today that Lexie doesn't appreciate eating in the mother's lounge with another baby making noise in the same room. So I missed all of Sunday School trying to feed her, but like I said she wasn't really into eating with all the noise of other babies coming and going. So we got to Relief Society and she wasn't happy because she was still kind of hungry. I did get her to sleep for most of the meeting so it turned out ok.

Lexie keeps growing and we have some new pictures to share of her this week.

I think this dress is really pretty.
The shoes she is wearing I wore as a baby.

This picture makes her look like she's singing & performing.

One of Lexie's favorite things to do is try standing. She's very strong!

1 Month

Lexie turned 1 month old today! Hard to believe how fast this past month has gone. She is such a sweet baby and is growing and getting more fun every day. We are so grateful to have her in our home and our family.

Lexie would like to wish her uncle Matt a Happy 18th Birthday today! Since we can't be with him to celebrate we took some pictures so Matt could see his cute niece which should make his birthday even better!

What a cute smile :)

"Hmmm..." wish we knew what she was thinking in this one!

As Promised...

Here are some pictures of Lexie in her blessing dress. She is 4 weeks old today. Funny how these 4 weeks since she has been born have flown by much quicker than the last 4 weeks of my pregnancy. Again, thanks to Great Grandma Mickelson for making such a gorgeous blessing dress for Lexie.

We love the look on her face in this picture.

Our Family's Big Day

Yesterday was a special day for our family. It was Lexie's blessing day, and it was Bryan's birthday which made the day even more special. We are grateful to our many family members who were able to come be with us as we celebrated. Here are a few pictures from the occasion. We didn't get any pictures of Lexie alone in her beautiful blessing dress that Great Grandma Mickelson made because there was no time, but we'll put her back in the dress and get pictures later this week and share them. Bryan gave Lexie a great blessing and she looked like a little angel!

This is Lexie meeting her Uncle Eric who has been in Air Force training for 8 months. He just got back on Saturday, just in time to be here for the blessing. We are so grateful he made it back and we know his wife Tracie is even more grateful to finally have her husband back!

Growing

Today Lexie turned 3 weeks old. Lexie took her first trip out of town this past Sunday to go to visit her Hoyt relatives. We had a great time and she loves the carseat and slept the entire trip both ways. These pictures were taken today. On Tuesday she had her 2 week Dr. appointment which was actually 2 weeks and 5 days, but it was the soonest we could get in with the holiday and everything. She weighed 8 lbs 8 oz and was 20 inches long. That means she has gained 1/2 a pound and 1 inch since she was born. The Dr. said that is really great; she is only in the 47% on weight and 28% on height. I'm fine with her being more petite and feminine!

This next picture shows a trait she inherited from both her mom and dad...sleeping a little crazy. Yes, both me and Bryan have had pictures of us taken in the past where we were sleeping in odd positions. This is the way Lexie loves to sleep...on her side with her head arched back as far as it will go. It's super cute!

I can't believe it's been 3 weeks since I gave birth to this sweet baby girl. I promised to post more about the delivery. They started me that Wednesday night around 7:00 using one form of medication, but it didn't do much so they started the pitocin around midnight. I had kind of started going into labor that day already because when I got checked at 11:00 that morning I was only dilated to 1 1/2 and before they started me on any medication I was at 2 1/2 and had started having real contractions before they gave me any medication. If they hadn't decided to start me because of the high blood pressure I probably would have been back to the hospital that night on my own. Once they started the pitocin the contractions really got going good. By 4:00 a.m. I was having very bad pains, got the shakes and all of that fun stuff. The nurse went to check me and my water broke and that put me in even worse pain. Anyway, at that point I was ready for the epidural. I had been in labor for about 9-10 hours at that point and I was ready for some pain relief! I seriously don't know how anyone does it natural, and I don't know why you would want to do it natural if you don't have to. Once I got the epidural it was pretty much immediate relief and I highly recommend an epidural to anyone going through childbirth! Anyway after that I was able to sleep which I did for several hours. At one point the pit got to be too much and I was having too long of contractions so they stopped it because the baby's heart rate started going down but they got things under control. The Dr. came and checked me about 6:30 a.m. and I had gotten to around a 6 or 7 so he left and I kept sleeping. At 9:00 the nurse came to check me and said I was complete and ready to start pushing. She went out to call the Dr. and he just happened to be in the hall so he came in and I pushed about 20 minutes and Lexie was born! Because I had been able to get so much rest and felt no pain, pushing was a breeze. The whole birthing process actually went very smooth and wasn't nearly as bad as I thought...thank goodness for modern medicine...otherwise I don't think I would have made it through! I'm grateful that everything did go so well and that we have our gorgeous little girl to show for all the hard work of pregnancy and delivery. Now onto even harder work...parenting!
